Texture Tuesday~The Phoebe eDition

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! These beautiful pumpkins belong to a friend of mine and I couldn't resist photographying them.
I used Kim Klassen's Phoebe texture along with Nelly Nero's Autumn Vintage action.
Here's the SOOC.

Texture Tuesday~Angel Trumpet~The Times 2 eDition

This week we were to use two of Kim's textures.  On my angel trumpet photo, I used paper stained light and grannyscupboard.  I'm loving that my plants are continuing to bloom, even with cool temperatures we're having now.  This is a gorgeous plant!

The Days of Mums and Roses

Summer is winding down and fall is creeping in.
I don't think I've ever been so ready for fall weather!  After a long and hot summer, cooler air is finally here.  Our leaves are slow to change this year.  My roses are hanging on for dear life!  After a recent rain, I captured the photos above.  Mums appearing in all the stores are a sure sign that the seasons are changing.
I'm still playing around with different textures and frames in PSE.  I stumbled across a great new (to me) website with lots of wonderful textures.  If you haven't visited Shadowhouse Creations, you might want to go over and take a gander.  I am still making my way through all the goodies there.
Have a great day!!

Texture Tuesday~The Red edition

I used Kim Klassen's The Ladder texture.  The photo was taken Sunday when my husband and I went for a motorcycle ride to Buckhorn Lake.  I love the way this texture makes it look old~like a postcard that has been passed around a few times.
Happy Texture Tuesday!!

Texture Tuesday~The Gratitude eDition

This week's assignment Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen was to use two of her texture layers and we were to think about the word "gratitude".  I know you're wondering what a mushroom has to do with that!
I live in eastern NC, close to the I-95 interstate.  All my life the weather patterns have been defined by "east of 95" or "west of 95".  This year, we have experienced fatal tornadoes, Hurricane Irene, an earthquake, flooding, drought and the horrible heat wave that gripped alot of the country.  This summer has been hard for me and my husband, physically and mentally.  We've been saying ALL summer that we'd be so happy for fall to get here this year.  We like the nice crisp, cool mornings, warm afternoons, Carolina blue skies, big, white, fluffy clouds and opening the windows in the house.  It's our favorite time of year.  It's also the time of year when our yard can be filled with mushrooms-all shapes and colors-just waiting to be photographed.  When I saw this mushroom in the edge of the woods, my heart sang. Finally!  We made it!
Today, I'm grateful for changing weather patterns and pretty, little mushrooms that whisper to me that my favorite season has arrived.

This is how I textured the photo:
I used Kim's Fall In texture on multiply 45% and brushed texture off mushroom.
I used Kim's Word texture on soft light 20% and brushed texture off mushroom.
Last I added the text.

Happy Texture Tuesday!
Happy Fall!!

Texture Tuesday~The Love eDition

{mouse over to see before photo}
Thank you Kim for the mouse over tutorial!

This week with Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday we enter the "love" eDition.
This one could have lead in so many directions.
I love photographing flowers, trees, weeds~anything that lives outside basically.
This weed is called Lady's Thumb.   I love the color and the way it just sneaks itself in wherever it pleases.  I've noticed that if I take the time to look down and in low places when I'm outside, I find amazing surprises waiting for me.
Here's how I textured this one:
Opened photo and add one of my other photos as the first layer.
I removed the layer from the flower.
Next I added Kim's Serious Magic texture (love this one) blended on soft light at 30% opacity.
I removed the layer from the flower.
Last I added the text, using the swirl from Kim's Touch of Whimsey brushes.

Happy Texture Tuesday everyone!
